Sam is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Maluuba, a Canadian artificial intelligence company based in the AI epicenter of Montréal. Sam founded Maluuba with the vision to solve Artificial General Intelligence by creating literate machines that can think, reason and communicate like humans. Maluuba opened its deep learning facility which has grown to become one of the world’s premiere labs applying deep and reinforcement learning techniques to solve fundamental problems in language understanding research. In January 2017, Maluuba was acquired by Microsoft, bringing its capabilities in machine comprehension, advanced conversational systems and reinforcement learning to Microsoft Research. Sam continues to lead Maluuba’s strategy and execution, defining the roadmap for breakthrough research, building commercial partnerships and establishing collaborations with the world’s premiere academic centers for deep learning.
