Fred Destin (he/him)

Partner, Atlas Venture

Fred Destin joined Atlas in 2004 and is a partner in the technology group where he focuses on technology enabled services and consumer facing innovation. He helps build companies. For Atlas, he has led a number of investments including Dailymotion (the European leader in video sharing), Seatwave (a large live events ticket marketplace), Zoopla (a disruptive online real estate play) and KDS (a SaaS travel company). Fred moved to the U.S. in 2010 and led his first U.S. investment in New York adtech company AdSafe (now Integral Ad Science). In his ten years in venture, he also invested or served on the board of PriceMinister (acquired by Rakuten), Rainfinity (acquired by EMC), CapitalIQ (acquired by S&P) and Xerox-PARC spinoff Inxight Software (acquired by BOBJ). He was previously an executive director at Goldman Sachs and also worked at JP Morgan in hybrid derivatives, but has never looked back since deciding to jump into innovation and entrepreneurship. He holds a master of finance, magna cum laude, from Solvay Business School (University of Brussels) and has lived, studied, and worked in London, Hong Kong, New York, Geneva, Belgium, and now Boston. Fred currently serves on the boards of Atlas portfolio companies EnglishCentral, Inspirational Stores, Integral Ad Science, Kinvey, Recorded Future, Seatwave, Stream Nation, The Currency Cloud, and Zoopla. Fred writes a candid blog at www.freddestin.com where he attempts to share how VCs think about the business of funding innovation and is a long-serving board member and mentor for Seedcamp, the international seed funding initiative as well as selection committee member and mentor at Techstars in Boston.
